That's just phase 1.
Phase 2: paw to the face (varies from "gentle tap" to "furious slap"). If that didn't help, move to Phase 3: bite body parts that aren't covered with blanket (usually face and hands). Like, "human, my bowl is empty, so I'm gonna eat your face instead".
Some cats starts from phase 3 outright (mine is one of them, unfortunately).

This is incredibly beautiful! I'm just getting back into the RWBY community, and seeing wonderful art like this makes me remember why I loved it so much in the first place. :)
