Almost two years since it had been first mentioned here on Danbooru, HUQU's infamous doujin has arrived. Beyond its infamous status online however, there is some surprising MICA lore behind this too.
At Anime Expo 2018, one of the operators for the Girls' Frontline booth there was a certain Mr. "Deadpapilio" Mei, previously having been commissioned for what amounted to fanfiction, which wasn't received well by the community in China. Though he wasn't an employee at MICA by AX '18, having moved on to operate the Weibo fanpage G&K Telegraph Bureau (GKTB), through his affiliation with Rei, he was able to attend the booth. Given how both the group and he were in the Special Thanks staff roll for Singularity, they seemed to still have some trust in him. He gave away another one of his short fanfics, and all seemed well.
However, it would be during that event that his downfall would occur, beginning with this very doujin: on the GKTB Weibo, Deadpapilio would literally sharethis doujin and praise its art, only to get massive backlash over its political nature and out of character plot. And then, later on, he'd convince the GamePress folks there that he was worthy enough for an interview, them being unaware he wasn't a MICA employee, which would lead to MICA releasing a statement on how he isn't affiliated to them; the interview itself is now gone. There's other drama too, but that's all I'll say for now.

I thought the Chinese fanbase was overreacting but now that you have framed it in the proper context I can see why they were mad now.

There's a reason why he's now considered a disgraced former employee (among the several MICA has at this point), and why even the suggestion that he might've been involved with the 2nd Confidential Files put the questionably-written lore in it in question (and while he isn't credited in it, it was definitely outsourced; though by now, with elements from it appearing in the game proper, the overwhelming consensus has grown to be "it was outsourced, but with MICA providing outlines, so ignore the majority of it unless necessary, because its writing is still trashy").
Another historical detail worth noting (I'd put it in a note if I had access to my computer, but can't note on mobile) is that the star on Negev's outfit is a combination of two symbols. It's widely known that the yellow six-pointed star was used as a symbol for "Jew" in the camps, but Jews weren't the only ones the Nazis were locking up. An upside-down pink triangle meant "homosexual".
Negev's uniform is essentially saying "Jewish homosexual" with a combination of the Jewish star and the pink triangle.
Be careful, Kashou might start using his moves on FuwaMoco too. He will seduce them with an infinite supply of freshly baked pon de rings. Then Korone will have to flex her bakery muscles to try and win them back.
Actually, a sequel game where a competitor opens a rival café/bakery crewed by dog girls would be fun to see. Perhaps said competitor will be a woman, someone else for Kashou to try and win over into his bed.
By the way, I now have a mental image of Fuwawa wearing Coconut's clothes.
Edit: Actually, now seeing FuwaMoco playing Nekopara I like to think it is only a matter of time until we really do start getting Fuwawa cosplaying Coconut fanarts.
I'm really hoping we might see art of FuwaMoco working at an "Inupara" bakery run by our favorite bread doggo Korone.
