Orchiectomy is the surgical removal of the testicles. After a orchiectomy, a man will not be able to impregnate a woman anymore. He would not be able to produce sufficient testosterone, requiring hormone replacement therapy for the rest of his life. It is a form of permanent sterilization and gonadectomy.
Orchiectomy may be performed due to testicular cancer, testicular torsion, and prostate cancer. It may also be performed on trans women as apart of their transition, to ease gender dysphoria, and to possibly undergo vaginoplasty.
