oophorectomy
Oophorectomy is the surgical removal of the ovaries. After a oophorectomy, a woman will not be able to menstruate and conceive naturally, nor produce estrogen anymore. Hysterectomy (removal of the uterus and cervix) and salpingectomy (removal of fallopian tubes) may be surgically performed as well. It is a form of permanent sterilization and gonadectomy.
