Testosterone is a male sex hormone and a form of androgen. It is found in both sexes but predominantly in men due to the testicles while small amounts are produced in the ovaries and adrenal glands. It can convert to estradiol under certain circumstances known as aromatization as seen in obesity, steroid abuse and complete androgen insensitivity syndrome.
It is responsible for inducing facial hair, body hair, deeper voice, muscle mass, among many other male secondary sex characteristics.
