sex reassignment surgery
Sex reassignment surgery (SRS), gender reassignment surgery, or top/bottom surgery are genital surgical procedures performed on transgender individuals so that their psychological sex aligns with their physical sex, improving quality of life from genital dysphoria as a part of their transition. The genital surgical procedures performed on trans people in modern day were originally invented for cisgender individuals who had issues with their genitals such as trauma, cancer, or a medical condition that would then be further developed and pioneered by the transgender community, with the exceptions of some such as metoidioplasty.
A vast majority of Asian countries require SRS in order to legally change one's sex on documents.
