There are too many posts being denied approval with single digit reviews right now...

August can be a pretty busy time so approvers might be touching grass. Modqueue has avoided ballooning at least but there might be less variety of eyes on posts for a little bit. This happens sometimes.

It's a duplicate because it was uploaded after the higher quality version.

Just to make sure, if Twitter version gets uploaded much earlier then Pixiv, they both get approved, but if it's the other way around, usually Twitter one is discarded because its' compression is worse?

I saw a lot of twitter-first-pixiv-second duplicates and assumed it works the other way around too.

Pretty much. If the lower-quality Twitter post is uploaded before a higher-quality Pixiv one, then both are usually approved.

To be precise, a higher-quality version of an image already on the site can be uploaded and approved, and should be set as the parent image. But a lower or equal quality version qualifies as a duplicate, because its addition doesn't add anything that the existing image doesn't already provide.

Due to the way Twitter compresses images, this usually means that an image on pixiv is higher quality than the version on Twitter, but that isn't always the case. A good rule of thumb is to check the image size and file type of the image you're uploading compared to the one already on the site, and if the size is bigger and/or the type is better, then you're good to upload. But if it's the same or worse as what's already uploaded, then don't waste your slots.

I'm hesitant on uploading any more fanart from geulimykun (skbyunea413) considering every post I uploaded got deleted, however when I look up geulimykun (skbyunea413) status:deleted, none of these posts seem as bad or exaggerated as post #9584794 or post #8970412, the artist has improved their drawing skills since then and I get the feeling that these posts I uploaded wouldn't of gotten deleted had a contributer uploaded them like post #9847408 and post #9847745.

They are not up to the standard to be included on the site, as mentioned in one of the messages.
