Hahaha, it reminded me of "The Fable of the Two Donkeys." In this story, the fabulist depicted the trials of two donkeys tied together. The rope separating them prevented them from eating the two piles of alfalfa their caretaker had accumulated on either side of the field. Driven by the selfishness and stubbornness typical of donkeys, each pulled in its own direction. Their combined effort (based on selfishness and obstinacy) prevented them from reaching either pile. Finally, they reasoned, decided to work together, and ate both piles of fodder, one after the other.

Full grown Amagi can do the same sort of intimidation, she just used the parasol for emphasis. Smol is getting the Marine version without the need for props. Akagi will be in trouble. Big or smol.

The thing you have to remember about older Amagi is that out of every shipgirl in AL, she's probably the single most respected in terms of her character. Despite not being a part of the Empire's leadership, of which Akagi certainly is, both Akagi and Kaga defer to her in all things with a loving fear. When I say "loving fear", I mean that Akagi or Kaga fear ever disappointing Amagi. Which isn't to say that they don't also fear upsetting her, because that's true too. Amagi isn't afraid to (quite literally) knock sense into the either of them.

Elder Amagi, Akagi, and Kaga have also been through a world of shit. This changed them from how they were in Crimson Echoes. Not completely, but you can tell Akagi is a brighter, happier individual during that event (to which she was offscreen the entire time.) I keep this fact in mind whenever I'm writing for Akagi-chan and Amagi-chan. Neither of these two characters suffer that excess baggage. Same goes for BB!Kaga, as I portray her as a generally happier, more easily amenable individual than her post-conversion self.

And it's also somewhat accurate to say that Amagi-chan is receiving a Marine influence, as for the first time in history, a Marine -- LtGen Michael Borgschulte -- is superintendent of the Naval Academy in Annapolis. And this past week he had them do their full-dress-blues drill exercise in the middle of the pouring rain to which for those midshipmen who didn't learn to scotch-guard their dress uniforms, they did that day. (Rain causes the colors medals and ribbons to bleed like a stuck pig, permanently ruining the uniform. Something I learned on funeral detail.) Yes, MIDN 2/C Amagi-chan was out there too, much to her chagrin. Wet uniforms are one thing, but wet tails -- 9 of them -- is entirely another. But as General Borgschulte doubtless informed Amagi-chan and her fellow midshipmen the same thing every Marine has ever heard: If it ain't raining, we ain't training.

You can't have the US Navy experience without us jarheads filling the quiet without our nonstop yelling and screaming which is something both Little Renown and Amagi-chan have proven adept at handling.
