A special forces (derived from special operations forces) is an elite militaryinfantry unit being tasked for risky or demanding operations by the government or the army. An individual served in the special forces are known as a "military operator", or "operator" for short.
Certain SOF groups, such as the US Green Berets, British SAS, and Soviet/Russian Spetsnaz (also VDV), can be distinguished by coloured berets. These are, respectively, green berets, red berets, beige berets and blue berets.
