Separating holding_shell

The tag has been used for unrelated objects colloquially called "shell"

There's already holding seashell for these:

Artillery shell, tank shell (ammunition). I propose holding_artillery_shell for the former (see also favgroup #23452 in general)

I originally wanted to request these lines, but the tag hasn't reach the minimum post count criteria.

I agree, but I do wonder what could be done with the koopa shells from the Mario series (Like in post #10582006). Holding turtle shell perhaps?

What about snail_shells? This might be a good time to consider renaming shell too, doesn't make much sense to dump it all together when most of the tag is for seashells.

I thought about deprecating shell seeing as it's ambiguous with certain ammunition and covers all sorts of stuff from eggs to turtles, but if we did that, then how would we tag shells on fantasy creatures/monsters that don't resemble any shells we have in real life? There's an argument to be made that people wouldn't be quick to call it a shell if it didn't look like a stereotypical snail/turtle shell, but I'm unsure, so I thought I'd ask for opinions first.

Probably nontraditional shell official alternate shell shape fantasy shell or something. I get the idea, but even now there's no way to search for that stuff since most of the shell tag is for seashells.

Is it normal for a BUR request to take this long to get approved, only to end up being rejected despite having 10 upvotes?

It's very common for BURs to time out. Admins have lives and there's a bajillion BURs all the time, and arguably letting them time out allows for as many people to cast their votes as possible. They can always approve an auto-rejected BUR after the fact.
