You misunderstand. I bring up Arknights because it is a copyright where damn near everything is qualified, whether it's actually needed or not, because most of it should be anyway.
I brought up cases where most or at least a lot characters in the same copyright have qualifiers (Genshin Impact, Chainsaw Man as examples), but not every single one have, which doesn't align perfectly with your Arknights example, or a supposed rule every single character tag should have qualifiers as well, whether they are serving a purpose of disambiguation or not.
There were around 300 character tags to deal with all at once back when this site was migrating over to using localized names for Mega Man (Series), and evazion was not willing to argue over whether some random few characters actually needed the qualifier or not. Therein lies the issue; sheer scale.
Trying to remove qualifiers by selecting a random few to start with (I know they're the most popular ones, but still) is not helping your case. You just seem like you're poking holes in the status quo for no good reason, and when one name isn't unambiguous after all, like Dr. Light (Mega Man), it brings the whole BUR down with it. I'm saying that you should do this in a more structured way, like making a BUR for Mega Man Battle Network (Series) first, then Mega Man Star Force (Series), then maybe, I don't know, Mega Man Legends (Series), one by one. Subseries with characters whose names are mostly unambiguous in nature. This will show that these qualifiers are indeed unnecessary.
I made a smaller BUR with the more popular characters (rather than hundreds of random ones) that actually have unnecessary qualifiers so it's easier and more straightforward way to analyze than a larger list, and test if it's even a valid idea to remove the qualifiers for these Mega Man tags (which is the main point of this forum topic).
You said yourself and paraphrasing evazion that the scale can be a problem when discussing these tags. Making a much bigger BUR for every case at once can be too much and not really productive. But I agree these could perhaps be structured as separate BURs per subfranchise.
I'm open to critic but I noticed the tone of your words sounds more accusatory than constructive.
If you check the BURs from back then in topic #18239, you'll see that characters from Mega Man (Classic) like Wood Man and Air Man somehow aren't qualified. This is proof that indeed, not everything needs to be qualified. Some of them already aren't. Or they should be hammered in line too. Who knows?
I'm familiar with topic #18239, you may notice a few comments I made there at the time agreeing with the localization changes but suggesting that characters with full names didn't need qualifiers. However, the BURs were approved without much discussion, as you can see.
You also brought up the inconsistency that some other tags still don't have qualifiers. I'd argue that Wood Man and Air Man are much more ambiguous sounding names than Mayl Sakurai (Mega Man).
