Currently, the grounds for tagging an image as loli / child are stated in the wiki.
I am specifically wondering about cases where posts are tagged loli/child even though the character is not a child/loli on the source.
These types of posts should logically have aged_down by default, but I wanted to make sure and ask if there are legitimate posts where they are tagged but DO NOT contain tag aged_down.

You are asking if it's possible to have a post tagged with child or loli but without tagging aged down?
If that's the question, yes, its possible becasuse aged down its meant for characters depicted as younger. It could be as a baby, child or even an adult if the character is really old. Example: post #8210546
If the character its canonically a child depicted as a child, like Anya (Spy X Family), it should not be tagged with aged down

I think they mean specifically with cases where the character is canonically older, would it be possible to have an image with child or loli without aged down. This is probably not true in solo posts but might be true in others.

My question is actually the exact opposite. A character is not a child, not in source material at least, but is tagged as a child, without the aged_down tag. For a character to be a child that is not a child in the source material it should have the aged_down tag but if there is any out of the ordinary examples of this, how come?

It seems so... There is enough problems with loli and child already (so many mistagged posts!) so it doesn't surprise me much. I guess until there comes a post where we have to tag child without aged_down while character source material is not a child we'll need to tag both aged_down and child on those types of posts.
child already has information about "they may be aged down by the artist" in the wiki but loli lacks it. May be a good idea to add a small information there too.
