Well, as with my previous request on Mr. Krabs tag, the current tags for Ben 10 characters is quite clunky and unorganized. Especially with some characters that were currently tagged with their rarely used full name instead of their usually-referred names. So I think it should be changed into an alias for the ease of tagging them.

In addition, I would like to create an implication on Ben 10 subseries as well, since it doesn't have one yet.

We have a lot of images in the tag related to pairs of Ben 10 underwear (i.e. post #7430128 [S]), am mildly curious about where this originated from but also guessing this warrants a tag considering I've seen it like, at least a dozen times by now while trying to find other chartags I missed.

Other thoughts

  • Ben 10 (Classic) tag for original series?
  • Omnitrix is tagged on a lot of aliens just because of the omnitrix logo on benny-boy's chest, should probably be removed from those--maybe omnitrix logo tag is warranted?
  • We have some species tags but not consistently, probably warranted for posts which actually feature original characters of said species but not if every post of said species is just ben's alien form
  • guessing we're gonna handle ben like the mahou shoujo he is and not imply all his alien forms to himself but also maybe not tag his main tag unless he is also present in human form? especially since we have posts like post #8377625 which is actually canonically gwen 10's version of xlr8?
    • but do we want to imply the alternate versions of him like ben 10k and mad ben?
  • and of course how we wanna handle qualifiers. i have i think all the related tags on the ben 10 wiki page now and its a fairly mixed bag as to what is qualified and what isn't in terms of alien names whether its for ben's alter egos or other characters. firstname lastname humans are basically always unqualified though (understandably)

why is there so much incest artwork of ben and gwen. i mean i know why. but also why. just draw bevin yaoi instead

create alias articguana -> arctiguana
create alias ultimate_articguana -> ultimate_arctiguana
create alias kickin_hawk -> kickin'_hawk
create alias spider-monkey -> spidermonkey
create alias ultimate_spider-monkey -> ultimate_spidermonkey

Ignoring absence or presence of qualifier for the time being though i know that's coming eventually, here's some other misspell fixaroos.

Populated the Omnitrix symbol tag also. Need a break from ben 10 tagging, I've seen more lolisho of this show than I never needed to.

Draw gay fanart of Ben with one of the villains, and it's not even Vilgax? What a stupid idea. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go fulfill childhood fantasies.

As someone who felt it was necessary to add that sentence in Gwen Tennyson's wiki about what version of her is represented in fanart the most, I hope you don't mind me joking around...

Also quickly going to note that there is apparently a reboot reboot comic series coming out later this year and we have one fanart with an official art inset of it (post #10869545), so that will probably also need a tag. FWIW the Ben 10 wiki is using Dynamite as the qualifier for this iteration because it's being produced by Dynamite Entertainment. Which probably means we need a tag for it and that Ben 10 (Reboot) needs a better name (even if the fanwiki is still using (Reboot) as the qualifier for all their pages)

I don't know if I'd use (classic) in this case. I feel like its use is generally related to either era agglomeration (Idolmaster, Mega Man, Sonic, Getter Robo, Tetsujin) or internal work segmentation (Dragon Ball, Naruto), ala what I discussed in forum #335482 and forum #335777, with only Metroid serving as a good parallel. I could imagine ben_10_(classic) being used as an umbrella tag for the original Ben 10 shows or even an umbrella tag for all works featuring Ben at age 10 just as much as I could it being for just the original series.

The qualifier (original) has its own ambiguities relative to tag use I highlighted in forum #416706. Which just leaves us with (1st_series), which is the least ambiguous option of them all.

Which then brings us to the two reboots. If we want to switch away from the use of (reboot), we could go with ben_10_(2016) in reference to the year it started in, which also opens up the option for the original series to be tagged ben_10_(2005). Wikipedia currently goes with that, more or less (we don't need to specify "TV series" in our qualifiers). We could additionally then do ben_10_(2026) but that's a bit too excessive, Ben 10 (Dynamite) is probably fine.

Let's just put this to a vote actually. Species tags for Ben 10 aliens that are chartags instead of gentags. There are others I'm not including (namely mutant frogs and pickaxe aliens) because they don't have any named members of their species. Neither do the Lucubra or DNAliens either I guess but those feel different?

create alias ben_10_(reboot) -> ben_10_(2016)

Just going to submit this now before I forget. And also before I forget is apparently the first series has been retroactively named as "Ben 10 Classic" or "Classic Ben 10" per da wiki so I guess we could go with that for a tagname, but if this goes through I'll start tagging relevant posts with ben_10_(2005) for the time being and maybe alias the tag later. also considering the actual series started airing proper in 2006 i guess ben 10 operates on a ten year cycle of restarting the continuity. looking forward to the next iteration in 2036

If we only have 10 posts for the reboot, is there a point?

To having the tag or having a rename?

To having the tag, yes. Many character designs are different, with the ones most relevant to danbooru being Frightwig and Charmcaster, who we have art of from both continuities. To having the tag name changed? I guess that's more debatable, but the most clear reason would be that we now have another reboot which is probably going to get more fanart once it releases in a few months.
