Hoshi Kirara's wiki stated gender

Posted under Tags

Pretty simple topic, to my knowledge Hoshi Kirara of Jujutsu Kaisen has never actually had a stated gender by the story or author?

Basically if there's no real source for them being tagged 1boy as they currently are their wiki page and several fanarts should be retagged 1other when kept androgynous.

Unsure if I should request a BUR as artists may draw them displaying explicit sexual characteristics like visible breasts.

i have no horse in this race in relation to the character because i don't know anything about this series, but i'd really like to hear an explanation as to why medium_breasts solo posts are being tagged 1boy. didn't we invent the futanari tag (or for the sfw posts - just 1girl) for this? is there an in-universe reason?

No there's no reason really, someone's just been spam changing Kirara's tags which is why I noticed and bothered making this forum post at all

The someone in question being user #1244875

I also feel that it is important mention that Kirara's male partner is canonically repulsed by the thought of being seen with men in a romantic way so, aside from Panda in that singular instance, Kirara is treated by most characters as a girl, futanari, or other rather than as strictly male or simply a trap.

I don't have any real knowledge about the characters, but according to Hoshi Kirara's article on Fandom, they were revealed to be male in Chapter 154 and Episode 52, though it also states that this information came from Panda, not from the character in question themself.

I actually did forget about Panda's line, p much all lines referring to Kirara directly were non-explicit pronouns in the manga and anime, even that chapter just refers to Kirara as "that person" the whole time and Episode 53 is they as well. Nevertheless, my bad for missing a line. Though gunumpyskirt above still points out things that are true

Though is user #1244875 still not breaking the rules with mistagging posts with clear sexual characteristics?

They are, but similar issues sometimes pop up with similar Bridget posts with edit warring. Since there isn't a way to stop tags from being edited, there isn't really a way to prevent gender warring.

as someone who is into traps but not futas, it's because when a boy has breasts it's 1boy, but when a girl has breasts it's 1futa... but it's complicated...

like personally speaking

if it's small breasts you can get from hrt/feminization like post #10893806 or the character just has a male build like post #10919622 then it's 1boy

but if the character is curvy with huge tits like post #6850040 then imo it's a futa/futa without pussy

but then there is some artists that literally only draw traps and never futa so when they add huge tits to a male character i don't even know anymore post #10536206

tbh my opinion on gender counter tags is that they are pretty much worthless in general given how much of a pain in the ass they are. like Yuri (Gnosia) being a cute boi tagged 1other (which excludes them from male focus, bishounen, trap) and having a genderswap (otf) form with tits that is ALSO tagged 1other is some bullshit that only pleases people who care about not misgendering fictional characters and provides no benefit for people actually searching for images of anime characters. the only time they are actually useful if you are searching for multiple characters like 3girls or 3boys, etc. not to mention all the people who love to tag every background characters gender as if they mattered instead of just using people or crowd

by contrast something like male with breasts is a lot more useful because it lets you search something very specific that is not the same thing as futa without pussy

fwd @mentiswave For an explanation on your choices/thoughts about tagging Hoshi Kirara's gender and to make you aware of this discussion.

I've seen this kind of topic being pretty divisive so I'll make it as clear and non controversial as I can, I mostly didn't want another character with a penis that doesn't show up in either futa or trap related tag searches.

This official illustration of what they looked like as a first year shows a pretty unambiguous male design imo, so that's what I always thought to be the case, even if it's never outwardly stated in the manga. Once I saw the description for Kirara labeling as a boy with a girlish appearance I believed it was set in stone here.

Also I thought I had reversed or left untouched the ones that made Kirara into more of a clear gender swap, so it's my bad for messing up the ones involving larger breasts. That's as far of a reason for it, I don't really have as much of a stake in it other than labeling a char I believe is a guy as a guy

Seems like a pretty cut and dry case of a trap to me.

For posts like post #10889769 where it's obvious he's depicted as a girl, yeah, those are mistags and should be reverted. For posts with breasts and a dick, they should be tagged futanari, but we never decided what to do with male with breasts unfortunately.

It just seems funny to me, because if it weren't for this one instance, we'd have an Akiyama Mizuki situation instead of a Bridget one.
