Reworking Arknights's copytag

Unless we want to leave it as just arknights and see what happens?

If we leave the tag for the first game as Arknights, I think most people would continue thinking that "Arknights = series" not "Arknights = first game".

What would happen is that naive users would continue searching Arknights expecting to get Endfield content, then think Danbooru sucks when they can't find any. Endfield uploaders would keep tagging Arknights on Endfield posts because they wouldn't realize that Arknights is supposed to be for the first game, not the series.

On one hand, it's good for sorting out things separately and an easier time for people who only have the 2 tag limit.
On the other hand, basically what evazion said, some people would get confused.
I'm pretty neutral but wouldn't mind the change.

In this regard, I think better organization trumps sub 100% adoption rate. People who actually take tagging seriously will do it correctly, which will help organize the two games better. People getting confused is ultimately a similar problem to people being super lazy about general tags when they upload: It happens, not much you can do about it.

I'm in favor of OP's original suggestion or ggraphy's suggestion here (moreso ggraphy's tbh):

What about arknights_(game), arknights which is for series and arknights: endfield, though the nier tagging problems could appear here too maybe. Why does the tag even has to specify it's the first game even?

I would have thought Arknights (game) would be unambiguous. Confusing as it is, horizon (game) uses the "game" qualifier for an entire game series. romance of the three kingdoms (game) isn't just for the first title either.

Though there are also tags that use "game series" as a qualifier. The above examples should probably just be using that.

On a similar note, we have *_(game) aliases to game series tags too, like Halo (Game) to Halo (Series) and not Halo: Combat Evolved, and Mother (Game) to Mother (Series) and not Mother 1, because each alias clarifies that the series being referred to is the game series (meaning you'd need to not just unalias those, but change the existing tags to also be 'game series').

I'd recommend that, if you want to make (game) an unambiguous qualifier, you open a new thread for that.

I don't care what the tag for the OG game is called, as someone who's not very fond of Endfield, I don't want to have to search arknights -arknights:_endfield each time I want to check out new AK fanart that's been posted, which is necessary because most of the recent posts in AK tag are Endfield and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Yeah I think there's various fans of the original game that aren't into Endfield, myself included. It's cool to see what people are drawing and enjoying with Endfield, but an easy way to separate them if you want to browse one or the other would be nice.

More relevant to the discussion is that Endfield makes up 55.8% of new uploads since its release on Jan 22.

It's already dropped to slightly less than half.

Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium is barely still 10% of the parent and only 1/3rd of all Girls' Frontline uploads, which is why I don't want to make quick choices that would end up backfiring in the future, especially since Arknights: Endfield at the moment is less than 5% of the Arknights tag. Let's wait a few months before we decide.

GFL2 is still a direct sequel. I think if Endfield was named something different, it wouldn't have been implied this easily.

Endfield is a complete new game at this point other than some lore components and characters that are shared between the two, whereas I think GFL2 had more of a gameplay similarity?
