Meta tag: first-party_source

Posted under Tags

First-party source: A source URL (Or perhaps even self-upload?) by a verified account of the artist.
Second-party source: Source URL suggests the commissioner/requester posted it (Or it's a requester/commissioner upload), or shared to the the recipient at the source/the person who uploaded it.
Third-party source: Unrelated entity hosting image, had zero involvement in the creative process behind the content itself.

I haven't found any topics discussing the potential application. However, I was recently discussing self-uploads from other boorus/mistaken application of third-party source, and thought that first-party_source would help to narrow down posts with unnatural sources like rule34.xxx, paheal, e621, gelbooru, sankaku, etc. wherever- Some artists genuinely upload to at least one of these platforms, and there's some who might post there exclusively. For tag gardening, it would be helpful to have first-party_source to filter out from searches of sources like these. That's the only application I'm going to bring up myself.

First-party source would apply to the majority of the posts on Danbooru. You need to name it to something more specific if you want it to only apply to unusual sources like other Boorus.

You're right, I'm just thinking preemptively here. First-party would come naturally down the line if we DO start tagging for sources like those. It'd be inevitable, like green_socks -> socks.

Yeah, there's no way we're calling this first-party_source, were we to tag this. It has to make clear in its name that it's for websites where it's unusual for artists to be self-uploading, like general_booru_self-upload or something.

-third-party_source -second-party_source there you go you're welcome

That's assuming people are tagging properly.

imageboard first-party source? I'm not opposed to it, they're a very rare exception and I suppose it would be useful when doing mass updates that touch third-party sources, and whenever we switch to storing sources it might be useful to mass mark posts.

I'll make a fav group, while correcting posts tagged third-party source.

It was mostly making fun of the name. I agree this seems like an acceptable idea as a tag, but it really wouldn't hurt if you think about the name at least a little bit before suggesting it (or just say you don't have an idea).

As a frequent Pinterest uploader, the amount of images I found that actually were first-party sources is a very small minority. Usually I only use Pinterest when the OG source is either lost or dead (and even then I prefer imageboards over Pinteresr if it can be helped).

That number also sounds really high to me speaking from experience. Most likely people failing to add the third-party source tag. I like the idea of a tag for the rare occasion where the imageboard source is the OG source, but Idk if we want to lump Pinterest in there or make another tag specifically for Pinterest cases of this.

This whole tag probably won't be very large. The above favgroup has fewer than 500 posts

You'd think that, but I don't think bacon was thorough in his inclusion of e621 first-party sources. There's only 42 such posts currently in the favgroup, yet (assuming the tagging is proper) source:*e621* -third-party_source -second-party_source -artist_request -source_request has nearly 700 posts by itself. And currently it lacks posts sourced from Gelbooru, Paheal, et al.

There's a chance for the tag to get up to 2k posts, at least, without even considering Pinterest or Huaban.
