SD Gundam, as it is, is mainly gundam mecha chibi...

To emphasize this...
Sudden bump (thanks for the approval on the qualifier, evazion!), but I did see a recent tweet which further emphasized my point. This sketch by irikodashiG highlights the various styles found under SD Gundam, from the stuff found in G Generation to the more cartoony content, and you tell me whether or not these stylistically justify their own copytag. No arguments yet have presented a proper counter to any of this.
BUR #50575 has been rejected.
rename sd_gundam_g-generation_f -> sd_gundam_g-generation
rename sd_gundam_g_generation:_monoeye_gundams -> sd_gundam_g-generation
rename sd_gundam_g-generation_ds -> sd_gundam_g-generation
rename sd_gundam_g-generation_wars -> sd_gundam_g-generation
rename sd_gundam_g-generation_cross_rays -> sd_gundam_g-generation
rename sd_gundam_g-generation_eternal -> sd_gundam_g-generation
rename sd_gundam_g-generation -> sd_gundam_g_generation
create implication sd_gundam_g_generation -> gundam
create implication sd_gundam_g_generation_original -> sd_gundam_g_generation
Once again, proposing collapsing the G Generation tags and correcting the - in the main tag before we can imply the G Generation Original tag, along with implying it to the Gundam tag.
BUR #50576 has been rejected.
remove implication sd_sengokuden -> sd_gundam
create implication sd_sengokuden -> gundam
create implication sd_gundam_gaiden -> gundam
create implication sd_gundam_force -> gundam
create implication sd_gundam_musha_maruden -> gundam
create implication bakushou_senshi!_sd_gundam -> gundam
create implication gundam-san -> mobile_suit_gundam
As well as dealing with these implications. I will point out that SD Gundam Sangokuden already implies Gundam.

Honestly I agree with your points
These are all different games, based on different parts of the main plot of gundam. It would make more sense to alias them to what they're adapting, such as Char's Counterattack, but then we'd be missing the SD part of it. None of this makes any sense.

In the second BUR, only Bakushou Senshi! SD Gundam and Gundam-san are explicitly based on parts of the main Gundam plot (with the former initially based on Zeta, before also adding ZZ and Juusenki L-Gaim, and the latter Mobile Suit Gundam), the rest are their own thing, but each of those have their own style differences that would be hard to tag for style parody if they implied them. SD Gundam Gaiden is about the amnesiac Knight Gundam going to defeat Satan Gundam, and as they battle, he finds out that they were originally one Gundam before splitting into two. SD Sengokuden is just sentient Gundams fighting in the Sengoku Jidai, just as SD Gundam Sangokuden is Romance of the Three Kingdoms Gundam. SD Gundam Musha Maruden is a spinoff of SD Sengokuden, but is so stylistically and conceptually different that it'd make it harder to find art where the two crossover if they were lumped together. SD Gundam Force is its own thing entirely too. And SD Gundam G-Generation covers literally everything in the franchise. It doesn't make sense to imply these to anything other than the Gundam tag.
And again, as I mentioned back at the start, we wouldn't be missing the SD part of it if we had a chibi mecha tag (which SD Gundam effectively already is, just for Gundam), and would allow for more thorough tagging of SD mechas from other franchises that's currently lacking because people searching chibi want to see post #9615839, and not post #3282958 and (rating:q) post #4632642, proven by the fact those two posts don't have it tagged.

Personally, I am in favor of keeping the SD Gundam tag as it's own thing. While yes, it is misused on a lot of posts that are simply chibi Gundams, there is a particular SD Gundam artstyle that is recognizably it's own thing which would be a valid use of the tag.
But which artstyle are you talking about? Per this tweet, there's several.

Hm there are distinctions but looking at them side by side they do appear clearly related, as variations of the same base design language

Yeah, but I feel as though, in a scenario where the SD Gundam tag is kept, it should be focused, since otherwise it is literally just a chibi Gundam tag. Everything currently tagged falls under one of those given styles, going against your comment from months ago where you claimed there were mistags, which goes in favor of turning the tag into a chibi mecha tag given how these styles got used beyond Gundam as well.
Something like post #8835884 (Compati Hero, The Great Battle - stylistically similar to SD Gundam Gaiden) can't be tagged SD Gundam right now, nor can something like post #846353 (Super Robot Wars - stylistically similar to SD Gundam G Generation), despite featuring Gundams in styles commonly identified as "SD Gundam" alongside similar SD mecha due to being treated as a Gundam subfranchise.
If we were to have a SD Gundam copytag, it would have to be more narrowly defined to avoid 'mistagging'.
