SD Gundam reorganization

Yeah, but I feel as though, in a scenario where the SD Gundam tag is kept, it should be focused, since otherwise it is literally just a chibi Gundam tag. Everything currently tagged falls under one of those given styles, going against your comment from months ago where you claimed there were mistags, which goes in favor of turning the tag into a chibi mecha tag given how these styles got used beyond Gundam as well.

Something like post #8835884 (Compati Hero, The Great Battle - stylistically similar to SD Gundam Gaiden) can't be tagged SD Gundam right now, nor can something like post #846353 (Super Robot Wars - stylistically similar to SD Gundam G Generation), despite featuring Gundams in styles commonly identified as "SD Gundam" alongside similar SD mecha due to being treated as a Gundam subfranchise.

If we were to have a SD Gundam copytag, it would have to be more narrowly defined to avoid 'mistagging'.

That's a fair assessment, it is difficult given how influential SD Gundam's art styles have been on chibi mecha design in general, especially in Bandai/Sunrise/Banpresto productions adjacent to Gundam

BUR #56858 is pending approval.

mass update sd_gundam -> chibi_mecha
create implication chibi_mecha -> chibi
remove implication sd_gundam_sangokuden -> gundam
create implication sd_gundam_sangokuden -> sd_gundam
create implication sd_gundam_gaiden -> sd_gundam
create implication sd_gundam_force -> sd_gundam
create implication sd_gundam_musha_maruden -> sd_gundam
create implication sd_gundam_world:_the_legend_of_dragon_knight -> sd_gundam
create implication sd_gundam_world_heroes -> sd_gundam
create alias sd_gundam -> sd_gundam_world
remove alias sd_gundam -> sd_gundam_world

Here's what I'm going to propose. After a lot of digging, it seems that there is a name associated with the SD Gundam style which I think people most commonly associate with SD Gundam historically - SD Gundam World. Originally rendered as スーパー・ディフォルメ・ガンダム・ワールド before being shortened down to SDガンダムワールド, it's a name that's been used since the very start. Later, a specific SD Gundam World franchise was started up, found under sd_gundam_world* so the OG stuff ended up being called 元祖SDガンダムワールド to distinguish them.

It seems we already have an SD Gundam World tag! And it's currently tagged on non-chibi Gundam posts, so accounting for forum #361064, searching sd_gundam_world -chibi_mecha should give you realistic fanart! So here's what I'm going to do.

First, a mass update on SD Gundam to create chibi mecha, the false positives can be removed afterward. And then we can rename SD Gundam to SD Gundam World, and imply the SD Gundam tags which fall in the same style as SD Gundam Gaiden. I have to do this backwards in the BUR due to SD Gundam World existing as a tag. Afterward, the false positives which don't fall under SD Gundam World's style, like G Generation, can be removed manually.

Searching up the sd_* tags, this is the seperation list. SD Gundam as a whole began in 1985.

SD Gundam Cross Silhouette is one of the rare works to try and give these different styles names: basing the proportions on SD Gundam X and G Generation Genesis, you have an SD frame (standing for Super Deformed) and a CS frame (standing for Cross Silhouette). post #5221910 serves as the wiki example in SD Gundam, with the former frame being what's being counted under SD Gundam World. The CS naming scheme didn't stick, given how G Generation is still called SD Gundam.

sd_gundam -(sd_gundam_sangokuden or sd_gundam_gaiden or sd_gundam_force or sd_gundam_musha_maruden or sd_gundam_world:_the_legend_of_dragon_knight or sd_gundam_world_heroes) has 1.3k posts. That's most of SD Gundam.

Even wikipedia does not try to collapse SD Gundam into SD Gundam World. I think it's going to be pointless for us to try to enforce a distinction that nobody cares about. Who's going to go through all of those non-SD Gundam World SD Gundam posts to move them to the correct tags?

And this is why I proposed turning the tag into chibi mecha because it focuses on the broader brand, which is just "Gundam but chibi", which, per your arguments, is not a valid tag. Narrowing it down to a specific style makes it more usable.

I proposed it, I'll go through it.
