SS tag rename

BUR #44295 is pending approval.

create alias waffen-ss -> ss_(organization)

Autistic pedantry time but the Waffen SS is a specific branch of the SS, and the tag is used for general SS stuff not just the Waffen SS (IE Heydrich wasn't Waffen, and I've seen it used for Ahnenerbe art from Dies Irae as well) so feel it should just be renamed to SS (Orginization).

Doing an Alias but if the tag is gardened it could be an implication too, either works.

Have you misspelled "organization"?

Curious but why alias an unqualified tag name to a qualified tag name? Would it not make more sense for the main tag name to be Schutzstaffel?

The only reasons is that using the full name of the Vietkong wasn't accepted previously so SS is more commonly known, but that's probably a better idea and just alias the other 2 to it.

No, because the abbreviated form of SS is much more widely known and used. Nobody except neonazis and historians are going around calling it the "Schutzstaffel" under normal circumstances.

No one except historians and neo-nazis know or care of the distinction between the Waffen SS and the larger SS organization. As the vast majority of our tags will inevitably be the actual Waffen SS (unless we get a sudden onslaught of art about the concentration camps, in which case what the fuck), none of these changes provide any useful utility for us.

post #6019755, obviously. Anyway I also agree with that, it realistically doesn't really matter, and I do think with waffen-ss everyone at least knows what it is.

Ah, the Vietcong debacle, you have a point. Forgot about that one and why it was rejected. Nevermind me then.

SS_(Organization) would be quite clear and more correct to the tag’s usage, I’m not expecting 100 copies of that weird GFL Doujinn I had the displeasure of seeing lol, but like I said there’s a fair bit of non-Waffen art under the tag.

Honestly if you told me you were uploading "SS" art I'd assume you meant "Secret Service" but I'm not a history buff or anything like that. I have heard of the Nazi SS before, but I don't like the idea of just "SS" as the name since multiple things can be abbreviated to that.

The Secret Service is rarely called the SS TBF, IMO the full organization name would be best and the most clear imo and just alias the other 2 to it.
