rename independence_day -> independence_day_(1996_film)
deprecate independence_day
I think the holiday should use it's actual name, and the movie should have a qualifier.

I think "4th of July" is arguably the more general names of the holiday rather than "Independence day" tbh. So I suppose it should be vice-versa, and probably adding "4th of July (with number) as an alias too.
Fourth_of_July is significantly shorter than Independence_Day_(United_States) and means the same thing to an American. Additionally because you're forcing it to be the same name as a holiday in over 100 other countries we're stuck having to use a qualifier. In short the only thing this alias accomplishes is to force a longer name on to the tag by moving it to an ambiguous name forcing it to be lengthen even further to remove ambiguity.
If for some reason this does go through, I think at minimum the qualifier should be shortened to (USA) as the tag is already long enough without us foolishly aiming for longer.
independence_day_(united_states): 32 characters w/ _
independence_day_(usa): 22 characters
fourth_of_july: 14 characters

I get your point, but I still feel an alias wouldn't hurt.

Alright, how about I reverse it to be independence_day_(usa) -> fourth_of_july?

I can change it to USA if that's preferred.

I don't mind the first line, though I prefer "(1996_film)" over "(1996_movie)".
Changed.

The second one is a solution in search of a problem.
Well how about we just qualify independence day (1996 film) first?

create alias independence_day_(usa) -> fourth_of_july
Bit of controversy, separated the two.
