Renaming minor Touhou characters

We do have extra as a tag for background mob kyaras in general... though maybe we should alias that tag to something less ambiguous? Background_extra? Background_extra_character?

From what i gather that tag is supposed to be for background characters taking the spotlight.
background_extra would be a bad rename.
I think it deserves it's own thread.

I think the tag has value, aliasing it to just make it a touhou tag isn't wise. We could either make touhou characters not appear in moon_rabbit, or we could garden it from the canon tagging.

You misunderstood. I was referring to the existing moon_rabbit_(touhou) chartag, not moon_rabbit which is ideally supposed to be tagged on pictures representing the "rabbit on the moon pounding mochi" and rabbit girls on the lunar surface

BUR #7472 has been approved by @nonamethanks.

create alias moon_rabbit_(touhou) -> moon_rabbit_extra_(touhou)
create alias inaba -> inaba_mob_(touhou)
create alias tanuki_extra -> tanuki_mob_(touhou)
create alias kappa_mob -> kappa_mob_(touhou)

As the previous BUR had failed, I'll repropose it, except with slightly different standardization, going with *_extra instead of generic_*, and standardizing the usage of *_mob to refer to a specific set of extras, and not just any generic extras.

This change in standardization should hopefully account for the points brought up by inabamob, as well as rectify the biggest problem with the original BUR in regards to Tanuki Extra. Whether or not *_extra is a better choice than generic_* in my opinion doesn't matter as much as getting something standardized, especially as once it is, we can easily change it later. As it stands, some sort of solution is needed, and we can fret the details later.

I only briefly looked over the thread, and there is one thing I don't understand. What made you choose the name "moon_rabbit_extra_(touhou)" over "moon_rabbit_mob_(touhou)" if you were going with "mob" for the rest of them?

Because, just like Wolf Tengu Extra (Touhou) and Crow Tengu Extra (Touhou), the tag refers to just any generic Moon Rabbit. In contrast, the other three in the BUR do refer to either a specific set of extras, as is the case for the Tanuki and the Kappa, or a specific design of extras, as is the case for the Eientei rabbits in their rabbit form (though it is also used for them in their humanoid form).

I don't particularly like this "standardization". The kappa mob has canon bases (it's a specific group of 4 characters, similar to nemo (fate)), but if you're going to call earth rabbits (which i think is a better tag than inaba, but let's keep it for later) and Mamizou's tanukis (ignoring any potentially stray one) as "mobs" because they have some sort of organization, then it makes sense to me that the tengu and moon rabbits should be called "mob" too because they're part of an organization.

I think we shouldn't overcomplicate things. Just call them moon rabbit (touhou), tanuki (touhou), and so on. If mistagging happens frequently we can always change it later.

If I were using "have some sort of organization" as the base line for the *_mob naming convention, then I'd agree. But I'm not. Regarding Mamizou's tanukis, you ignore how, just like the Kappa Mob, they too have canon bases (with a link in the wiki depicting as much). And, to a lesser extent, the Eientei rabbits too.

Really, the most contentious one is inaba, and that one really can go either way, whether it be inaba_mob_(touhou), earth_rabbit_extra_(touhou), generic_earth_rabbit_(touhou), or whatever. The important part for me is moving it to another tag because the tag it is on right now is very ambiguous (while the others are either not intuitive, prone to major mistagging, or just not qualified).

We can argue on the specifics of what the tag(s) should be named after this BUR passes, fair?
