[Proposal] Nuke the "title" tag

Posted under Tags

For starters, the wiki for this one is confusing.

from title:

When the copyright name is included in the illustrator's artwork. Usually, posts without the original tag attached to them. However there are some exceptions where the title doesn't necessarily refer to the characters you see in the illustration. (post #2802663)

I've read that several times, and I still don't understand it. Looking through the example post above and also the posts under that tag (tag search: title), it seems like all of those would be better served under one of the variations of the cover tag. So probably do a mass update from title -> cover, then go through the newly tagged posts and add one of the more specific *cover* tags as mentioned in the cover wiki.

Thoughts?

I don't like the idea of a mass update. There are plenty of things in there that aren't covers. It would be easier to go through with a tag script, first adding the cover tag and removing this one, then just to remove this one from the ones that are left.

As for whether the tag should be nuked... I don't know. The (first bit of the) wiki makes it sound like a duplicate of the copyright name tag but in actuality there are quite a few where the "title" isn't actually the copyright name at all, but a character name or a theme for that particular piece of art, done in the style of a title.

I'd be fine with manually going through that tag like you suggested. I just wanted to check with everyone and see if there was any reason to keep that "title" tag. If so, how can it's definition be fixed so that it doesn't crossover with copyright name or cover? It would also need a clear definition so that it isn't confusing. Also, would the name of the tag need to change as well so that it's easier to understand?
