Re-naming [[arudehido]] to [[Aldehyde]] and mass retagging

Posted under Tags

Arudehido was originally a very rough translation of the artist's Japanese name: アルデヒド.
Which in joke, or because he was also using google transleate, the artist took on as a nickname on a few sites.
This name has stuck for the artist on Danbooru even though on pretty much every other site he's on its shifted to the correct translation "Aldehyde", provided by his own twitter.

I want to change Aldehyde to the main artist's name on danbooru too, since it makes it much easier to find the artist when coming in from other sites, like vndb, lndb, doujin databases, etc.

Do you guys agree that this should be done?

My only problem with doing it, is that I'd usually just go to each image and change the tag... at over 400 images, that's not really something i want to do that way.
Any way of moving this faster?

Qualifiers are only needed if there are name collisions, or if there is any ambiguity to the tag. I had to Google Aldehyde to see what you all were talking about regarding chemicals as I had never heard of it before, so I suspect that most people will not find any ambiguity with the tag, and therefore IMO it does not need a qualifier.

That's why henmere makes requests like this:
huangquan_dong_(sinchi)

Doesn't sound ambigous, no. Seriously, I don't get you here, but ok.
If there is even the slightest chance that the artist tag ambigous, then the qualifier is needed. And really: It doesn't even hurt.

The whole point for making this change was to make the artist name less ambiguous easier to find, and more in line with the name that people would search for when coming from other sites, including from the artist's official pages.
Adding a modifier feels like it defeats the purpose of this change.

Yeah, if the goal was to make it less ambigous, then no. I can't say it's not ambigous now.
And since are we going after the twitter name? I always thought we use the pixiv names to do so...like every artist who has a pixiv account is tagged this way.
And adding the qualifier doesn't change anything, it's only adding with the benefit of being less ambigious. If one search after the artist, the autocomplete box will show up and link to this artist.

How can you be so strict against adding the qualifier to this artist name in your feedback^^? It doesn't destroy the...uhm...purpose and it still turns out to be that it's less ambigious. And I thought that was your goal here :3.

I was just saying that i don't see the use.
It's a community, if someone wants to not change the name or add a modifier then so be it.

Seriously, you're the one that's making this a much bigger deal than it actually is.

To give an example of why qualifiers should be sparingly used, taken to the extreme, every artist, character and copyright tag on this site should be given a qualifier in order to drive the chances for collisions and ambiguity down to zero, however that would be ungainly and IMO would look terrible.

I believe they should be used only when absolutely necessary. The simpler a tag is, the better. It wouldn't hurt to add the qualifier, true... but then again, it wouldn't help that much either.

If all of a sudden, we get a ton of posts from an artist/copyright/character/chemical named aldehyde, then it's easy enough to add a qualifier at that time.
