wilhelm burgdorf

Wilhelm Burgdorf (15 February 1895 – 2 May 1945) was one of 4 generals in the OKH's Chief of Staff, and held the post of Chief of the Army Personnel Office (Heerespersonalamt) and Chief Adjutant to Adolf Hitler. Historians have noted that Burgdorf in the latter stages of the war consumed alcohol heavily and got angry very easily.

After failed surrender negotiations he attempted to shoot Hans Fritzsche after the latter intended to surrender to Soviet Marshall Georgy Zhukov. On May 2nd 1945 he and his colleague Hans Krebs commited suicide in the Führerbunker.

He is portrayed by Justus von Dohnányi in the 2004 movie Der Untergang.
