tankard
A type of large mug with a handle and possibly a hinged lid. They are usually made of wooden staves, like a small barrel, but some tankards may be made of metal or ceramic. The traditional beer stein may be thought of as a highly ornamental type of tankard.
They are commonly seen in medieval European fantasy settings, particularly in taverns.
