star trek: kelvin timeline
A term for the movie series reboot of Star Trek from 2009-2016.
The Kelvin timeline, or "alternate universe Trek", is an alternate timeline that diverged from Star Trek: The Original Series decades before the original series took place, allowing the reboot to tell new stories with the same characters without retconning the original series. The name of the timeline comes from the event that caused the divergence, the destruction of the USS Kelvin.
