sliding doors

引き戸

Doors that are designed to slide open and closed, rather than being controlled by a doorknob.

Japanese homes commonly have paper sliding panels called shouji and fusuma. Shouji have a wooden lattice frame while fusuma are flat.

In homes, sliding doors are pulled open with a handle. In businesses such as convenience stores or grocery stores, they may open automatically.
