gyeongsang korean text

경상어

Korean dialect spoken in the Gyeongsang region.

This dialect is characterized by merging of ae and e, as well as eu and eo, plus dropping of w and y (/j/) after consonants. Southern Gyeongsang also lacks the "tense" fortis consonant ss of Standard Korean; speakers will instead substitute it with a "lax" s.

Southern Gyeongsang (especially the Busan variant) is frequently used in translations and fanworks to adapt Japanese Kansaiben (analogous to use of Southern American English in English translations and fanworks). Japanese characters who speak Kansai dialect are frequently depicted speaking Busan dialect in Korean translations and fancomics.
