The Ferrari F40 is an Italian sports car introduced in 1987 to celebrate Ferrari's 40th anniversary--even though the company was founded in 1939. The F40 was very expensive by the standards of the day ($400,000 MSRP in the US) and was one of the main competitors to the Lamborghini Countach. It also has the distinction of being the last car personally approved by company founder Enzo Ferrari before his death in 1988. Road-legal F40s were made from 1987 to 1992, with racing-only versions persisting until 1996.
