airship

A type of fantasy aircraft or spacecraft from the fantasy or science fiction genres. Often, airships look similar to real ships, except flying in the air or space through magical or fantastical means. For reference, the Palanquin ship and the Space Battleship Yamato are the archtypical example of an airship.

This tag is not for real life blimps, but for fictional flying ships. For real life blimps, use dirigible. When in doubt, or when the vehicle exhibit characteristic of both vehicle types, apply both dirigible and airship, or just use the aircraft tag.

Flying boats are not to be confused with airships; they are a variation of seaplane.
