ahoge

Literally "stupid hair", an ahoge is a single long lock of hair that sticks out of a character's head.

Use cowlick instead if it's short or thick tuft of hair rather than a long strand. Use antenna hair instead if there's two or more thin locks of hair instead of only one.

If the ahoge reflects the character's emotions, it may also be expressive hair.

Not to be confused with ahegao, which is a facial expression.
