cowlick
An unruly tuft of hair that sticks out from the head or that lies at odds with the rest of an individual's hair.
Not to be confused with ahoge. Compared to an ahoge, a cowlick is usually a shorter or thicker tuft of hair rather than a single long lock or strand, and is usually located nearer the back or side of the head than the forehead or crown.
