A Gundam subfranchise, which renders the mecha (and characters) from Gundam in a chibi appearance. SD Gundam's super deformed style would find much use beyond even Gundam, inspiring Super Robot Wars and Compati Hero (spreading to tokusatsu), and would allow the mobile suits' use in more comedic contexts, including those where they are depicted as sentient.
