Maybe some people playing Azur Lane, but considering the Devs said the new ship would be a Destroyer Escort and that she has no historical relevance to the recent Kancolle events, very few people were expecting the Benson-class Destroyer Laffey.

The other USN DD that the devs are hinting about is also highly unlikely to be Laffey, because it will be a Fletcher-class DD. And considering the theme of recent events, that makes Johnston, Hoel, and Heermann the most likely candidates. And considering Johnston is most famous for leading the charge against Kurita and her captain earned the Medal of Honor, that'd be my best guess.

Yeah, Kiyoshimo would definitely be interested in meeting Sammy!
