Upload Feedback Thread - post here if your uploads keep getting deleted

Posted under General

I really don't understand this, every single time I try to post alternate versions of already existing posts there's at least a handful that get deleted.

Case in point, all of the parents of those posts were uploaded recently and went through the moderation queue just fine. One of them even got approved by an admin. But somehow the greyscale versions are not good enough (they are not yet deleted but they're hours away from it, so it's the same thing). It's very frustrating for a new user to see stuff like this happen constantly.

Greyscales are generally less exciting than their colored versions and/or are also unfinished.

But they are official versions of content already present on site. The only difference is the palette range. And beyond that, there's plenty of sketches on site. The wiki even mentions in bold that sketch status is no reason enough to flag - that suggests to me that if a sketch/greyscale gets deleted/flagged it's not just because it's greyscale, but because there's something else wrong in the picture, in which case I'll just flag the parent as well like I've been doing every time one my uploads that are children of existing posts are deleted.

in my case I give everyone even chance when I approve posts since I don't really care much who uploads it. The reason I didn't approve the three example you gave is because it looks too western for my taste. So wouldn't even approve the coloured or the grayscale version.

I want to ask about rejections on my uploads. Posts such as these were rejected:

Meanwhile similar posts like these I uploaded have been approved:

What's the reason on their rejection? As far as quality in a technical sense, I believe they're all well drawn.

Also, there's this one with a rejection reason: post #2689715. The image I uploaded was already the :orig of that image.

The flag is basically a low-effort reason meant to say that: the flagger thinks there is something irredeemably wrong with the picture, either in terms of anatomy or picture quality.

As for your posts, they're a toss-up. Yes, as you said they have quality in terms of technique, but the terrible lighting of the photographs takes away much from an otherwise decent picture. So, it eventually comes down to individual approvers liking an image enough despite the bad lighting, or not.

Hi everyone,

is it alright to appeal an image that is not mine? If yes, please have a look here. Attention, it's questionable:

The face looks cute, body anatomy is correct (though very female) and the coloring is fine as well. Would you not agree?

I know the favcount doesn't tell anything about quality but I feel sad for all this 30 people in just 3 days about this fanart deletion. Could you take another look at it?

Thanks for your attention.

I'm never really comfortable with these enormous body but tiny head drawings. This one goes a bit further with skinny shoulders and arms that don't fit the overall thick body.

Lengthwise, it's a normal-sized head on a normal-sized body... if it weren't an anime-style drawing. If the face is anime-styled then instead of the torso being 2x chin-to-scalp, it becomes 2x of chin-to-hairline. Proportions are further compounded because even assuming a non-anime-style drawing, the hips and shoulders are wider than average.

Thanks for answering. But what does this mean? So it would be good if it were not anime styled?

But if everyone agrees that there is nothing good in this fanart to save it, then I should overthink my way of thinking about fanservice...

It would've been better, at those proportions, for the face to not be anime-proportion, yes. An anime head is typically 20% bigger than an anatomically-accurate human head to compensate for their faces being lower and eyes being bigger.

Okay. I see what you are trying to say. To me, it seems to be more a style and taste question and less a question of quality for this fanart, right? So maybe making an exception even tough it does not fit the own taste but at least the taste of many others? Yes, you could say the same to popular western art but this is straight anime style. It would be really sad if an image gets deleted which is actually of good quality. Wouldn't you agree?
