For some reason, various Yu-Gi-Oh! character tags were stuck with "Danbooru-ized" romanization when their official romanization is widely available. Since we are now prioritizing official romanization, I don't see the reason to leave this as an outlier.

Edit: Added qualifier for Playmaker since that name is a bit too generic.
Edit 2: Added other alias for Arclight brothers' name.

I would actually suggest we should switch to the dub names like we have for Pokemon and Mega Man. The first couple of series were major childhood anime series that most of our userbase would've watched on TV dubbed, and those names are more well known than the Japanese names, even being used for some secondary tags like creepy chin Joey Wheeler (meme).

I'm not familiar with all the different mediums of Yu-Gi-Oh though, so I don't know if it's a similar situation to Digimon where switching to translated/localized names is unfeasible due to inconsistencies between installments.

As far as I know, only the manga (handled by Viz) that have different names with the English-dubbed anime ones (for all series, opting with the original Japanese names for the most part). Although both manga and anime are treated as different continuity with each other anyways (the anime series is considered "canon").

If I remember correctly the same split exists in various other languages, wherein the localized manga has the original Japanese names, and the anime dubs (based on the English/4Kids dub) have the localized names, such as Joey Wheeler or Tristan Taylor.

Both the Yu-Gi-Oh wikia/fandomwiki and Yugipedia use the localized names for the "anime canon" pages, and the Japanese names for the "manga canon" pages. eg. anime vs manga

+1 to this, stuff like Dark Side of Dimensions and the Master Link game are still using the dub names years later, the VIZ English release is the only iteration to use their original names.

From what I know it is just the manga all the old GBA games use the dub names, physical products, duel links, legacy of the duelist all use the dub names.
Even among fans from what i've seen characters are just called "manga [dub name]" instead of honda/jounouchi/juudai when they want to talk about the manga. Even if they use the non dub names it isn't with the extra "U"s. I'm in favour of either the romanization or dub name changes.

I don't think switching to dub names is a good idea on the basis that it would lead to inconsistencies across series. While it's true that most people grew up with the dub of DM and GX, the same it's not necessarily true for later series. The newer a Yugioh series is, the more likely people are more familiar with its character's original names, to the point that from Zexal on you'll hardly find anyone using dub names (and some dub names are pretty hated for being dumb). Yugioh dubs nowadays also take a long time to be made, which contributes to people getting used to the original names.
So I think it's better to treat it like Digimon and keep everything in its original name as to not cause confusion. And it's not that big of a deal since the dub names are aliased now that I noticed.

Is the mobile game Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links good enough? Cause most of the characters shown in this lists have their names romanized
like this, and Oudou Yuga's named was romanized in the 1st ep of SEVENS as "Ohdo Yuga"

There's also collab cafes and acrylic stand merch

The only outlier is judai is jyudai for the protagonists

rename kurosaki_shun -> kurosaki_shun_(yu-gi-oh!)
create alias shay_obsidian -> kurosaki_shun_(yu-gi-oh!)
create alias lulu_obsidian -> kurosaki_ruri
create alias zuzu_boyle -> hiiragi_yuzu
create alias celina_(yu-gi-oh!) -> serena_(yu-gi-oh!)

Some missing Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V romanization and localization. Renamed the tag of Kurosaki Shun since there's a character from Love Live with the same name. Also changing the name of the other Yu-boys into their rather weird official Japanese romanization, which is present here.
