Thoughts on yan kodiac? Seems like they're trying to hide that it's ai-assisted to me. They have an unusually high output for the level of rendering in their work, anatomy of the hands is often terrible relative to the complex anatomy and perspective they're supposedly capable of (see post #8830951 or post #7852442 or post #8337124), and their style is not very consistent. Their work pre-2022 is pretty different from what they output now. They've posted timelapse videos before, but the recent vids seem stiff to me and generally don't feature much "exploration", while the older vids almost always start after the initial sketch.

I'm in his Discord and he still posts sketch WIPs in there as well as unfinished flat colors of his newer work. I do recall that he still posts making-ofs but I'm not sure if those are pay wall exclusive or if there's been a public post recently. Even then, these are no longer easy tells. I'm fairly confident Yan Kodiac doesn't use AI at all but it is worth noting for other cases/artists that AI can make timelapses and is better at hands. Style inconsistency isn't necessarily indicative of anything either (but it could be); Qiandaiyiyu and Ringeko-chan to this day still get accused of AI use for example.

His making-of videos are actually part of what makes me suspicious. Unusual quirks like starting with the centerline of the face, very little construction, nailing the composition on the first pass. post #8830890 features a lot of these red flags - note how he nails the anatomy and face on the first pass without any construction lines, but seems to have a lot of trouble with the anatomy of the left arm once he decides to redraw it. Strikes me as someone who definitely has experience drawing but has trouble maintaining consistency when he has to redraw parts that need to be fixed. I guess it could be that he's using an off-screen reference and just has trouble when deviating from it, though.
Regarding the hands - it's the inconsistency that is suspicious to me. Sometimes the hands look fine, but other times they're extremely amateur. Compare the girl's hands in post #8830951 with the hand tugging on the tie. As you say, AI is decent at hands these days, but it's not always perfect. You see this kind of thing a lot with amateurs that trace work or heavily reference; if they have a guide they do fine, but if they have to deviate from the source image (if, for example, the AI screwed up the hands) then their subpar fundamentals shine through. And while I would think someone drawing over AI would be able to notice and fix issues like this, post #7852442 does have an odd double pinky that makes it look like she has six fingers on her left hand.

Extra digits in multiple images… appearing inconsistently too within the same Pixiv posts. Melting nipples, spots with random lines merging or showing distortion out of nowhere… I think it’s AI. With no effort of correcting those mistakes. Tagged ai-generated (and extra_digits when applicable).
Perhaps I am now paranoid but can someone else confirm if this image I uploaded is AI or not?

I think those things are just poor artistry. This artist has a lot of bad hands in general but not in an AI way, more of a genuinely just struggling to draw hands way. There's a lot of small little things in this that seem like conscious choices a human made and this artist has also posted progress videos in the past for their works that are of a similar look to this, so I don't believe this is AI.
Random third party post from twitter, looks like softhanten but signature is someone else. Thinking it might be ai based on their work?
