Playboy bunny leotard exists because bunnysuit, before it was renamed to playboy bunny, used to have a rule that it couldn't be used without bunny ears. So playboy bunny leotard was created to mean "bunnysuit without ears". But the only reason the "bunnysuit must have ears" rule existed was because bunnysuit used to imply bunny ears. But that implication was removed way back in topic #5417. But the rule still lived on in the wiki even though the implication was removed.

In other words: this tag is a historical accident, use playboy_bunny -bunny_ears if you want bunnysuit without bunny ears. And don't forget to tag bunny ears where appropriate.

See the points made by AngryZapdos and me back in forum #170293. I honestly think it's quite useful to have a tag that helps find playboy bunny outfits with more unusual animal ears and tail (or demon horns and tails, etc.) In addition to the fact that playboy_bunny -bunny_ears causes results with multiple characters to sometimes be excluded as with those posts I pointed out, also taggers will forget to tag rabbit ears and/or tail, and so doing a search like playboy_bunny -bunny_ears animal_ears will turn up a lot of non-relevant results for what I'm looking for right away.

Honestly the tag being named playboy bunny leotard is pretty bad though, as users who don't read the wiki definitely misunderstand the tag and I've constantly had to garden it in the past for that reason. It's awkward-sounding, but I think I'd like it to be something like non-bunny playboy bunny. I've found that not necessarily all relevant images even feature a leotard. See post #4696066 for instance.

We have nontraditional_playboy_bunny and kittysuit already, which should probably be generalized or merged. playboy bunny leotard is like maid_dress, it's a pointless tag. Nobody's going to bother to use it. We should be tagging the exception instead.

Currently the tag mostly has images of non-standard outfits with bunny ears, which is quite a different concept than an at least somewhat standard playboy bunny outfit with non-standard ears and tail. It would be my preference that they each have a separate tag (just that the latter concept be tagged as something else other than "playboy bunny leotard"), though I guess having both concepts mixed in under the tag would still be better than nuking the concept completely. Also, I would not have a problem with kittysuit being implicated or merged under the tag for the latter concept.
