I am going to fucking lose my mind if we continue any longer without a proper series umbrella tag for GFL, with the amount of redundancy we're building up here.

I guess the umbrella tag debate is going to be endless, if you'll insist on the reverse collapse version. I do remember someone saying, that most people refer to the whole franchise as "GFL universe" or something, rather than "Reverse Collapse universe". Plus, Reverse Collapse is a remake of Bakery Girl with adjusted for GFL timeline, not the other way around.

I mean, regardless of my insistance upon it, that doesn't resolve what evazion had said (forum #333019):
"I also don't like having a tag that's 95% the first game. The only benefit to this would be being able to search for content specifically from the first game, but GFL1 and GFL2 have so much overlap that that doesn't appear to be useful. Maybe that will change as we get more GFL2 posts."
Looking at the post front like I had in forum #322505, it's clear that GFL2 is getting more uploads than GFL1, but GFL1 (et al) is about steady was it was previously, so we're nowhere close to resolving the issue of the series tag being largely dominated by the first game, regardless of what name we ultimately went for it (though I genuinely think that the opposing option won't get through, because that's going to cause a lot of
(girls'_frontline)to(girls'_frontline_1)qualifier updates, due to the inevitable copytag update to avoid confusion, which would cause even more post changes).
So, a bump here feels appropriate, in light of two developments. In my last comment on this in topic #26129, I remarked how I felt my option had better acceptance odds because the other option necessitates qualifier updates. Since then, two things have happened.
The first is that Arknights is officially dealing with the same thing as GFL due to Endfield's release, feel free to read topic #35072 for further details on that. The main relevant point is evazion's evolved stance since the discussion here: it seems that, regardless of whichever choice we go with - reverse_collapse_(series) or girls'_frontline_(series) - we're going to have to change Girls' Frontline to Girls' Frontline 1 and deal with the pain of qualifier updates. But just like Arknights, the main tag is still dominated by art from the first game (while Endfield was at 2% half a month ago according to forum #419645, GFL2 is currently at about roughly 10%), and per the graphs uploads remain steady for both.
The second thing is this:

I'm going to bring up this topic here because, honestly, I am now at my wits' end. So, MICA has made my job in organizing these tags way more difficult than I would've ever hoped, and now we're at a major crossroad.
Due to the current state of copytagging for GFL, which I complained about elsewhere, we've so far been unable to properly handle several decisions taken by MICA when it comes to appearances and skins. Outlining them as follows...
5) why would you name Groza Alter AFTER HER NAME IN THE FIRST GAME?!
ots-14_(girls'_frontline_2)when we have ots-14_(girls'_frontline) is confusing as hell... and you're also giving her Destined Love as a skin?! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!
Given current gacha game chartag practices (MiHoYo, Blue Archive, et al), where we lean towards the active name for a playable character, an upcoming character is going to force us to have a ots-14_(girls'_frontline_2) tag (unless we specifically opt for a different name, and we have options). Given the fact that we have OTs-14 (Girls' Frontline) and Groza (Girls' Frontline 2) as of writing, that theoretical chartag may be prone to mistagging... all of that puts pressure to turn OTs-14 (Girls' Frontline) into OTs-14 (Girls' Frontline 1), which already brings us towards updating the qualifiers...
In a girls'_frontline_(series) scenario, we'd likely have groza_(girls'_frontline) as the parent tag, and then ots-14*(girls'_frontline_1), groza*(girls'_frontline_2), and ots-14*(girls'_frontline_2) as subtags, and then any skintags shared between games get defaulted to (girls'_frontline). In a reverse_collapse_(series) scenario, we'd then have the same, except the parent tag would be groza_(reverse_collapse) and (reverse_collapse) would be the shared skintag qualifier.
But Groza Alter's name complicates the name we'd use for the parent chartag, because, unless they announced that Destined Love as a skin will also be available for Groza proper, groza_(destined_love)_(girls'_frontline)/(reverse_collapse) wouldn't make sense at all, since the only characters associated with that skin would both be called OTs-14! Why did they have to make this so complicated?!
I still think advocate for reverse_collapse_(series) over girls'_frontline_(series), but I think it's worth just laying down how things are developing, both in regards to current pressure complicating making things searchable and legible due to the absence of a parent copytag, and what corresponding discussions are going on elsewhere on-site.
