The gothic/dark-themed tags & usage

There seems to be 4 main gothic-related tags currently being used:

to the wiki

Gothic_lolita seems to be self-explanatory in terms of usage

Gothic_architecture as well, though it seems rarely used

Not too sure about Gothic_princess, but it seems to be an established tag (15 uses)

The main one to point out is gothic

According to the wiki, it's only to be used for clothing (possibly including gothic-lolita as well, depending on how you interpret it)

That's fine, since examples of that style exist:

But what about other gothic elements? Do we use the gothic that for those as well?

Things like
Atmosphere (ambiguous)

Physical Setting (much more common; overlaps with gothic architecture)

Characters, clothing-style & objects (also common)

Or a mix of the above

Short Version

There's a definite occurrence of gothic-themed material on danbooru, but some requires more searching due to the lack of tagging on them

So, before I consider adding the gothic tag to them, does anyone have a better idea or alternative solution?

If you're going to make some sort of omni-gothic tag, then you need to do something with the existing use of the tag before making it impossible to separate it from all the things you want to add to it.

You're also going to need a solid description of what you want "gothic" to mean. It should not be ambiguous. The existing tag has a pretty decent description for clothes, but if you're going to make a unifying tag, then you need to describe the unifying theme.

"Gothic atmosphere" needs a good definition, and frankly the two example pictures weren't what came to mind when I went looking. At most, they just have a dark background. The first is Christmassy, and the second has more of a nature feel. (I also don't see post #1319984 as an example of gothic clothing.)

I'm not seeing anything under the "physical setting" examples that gothic architecture doesn't cover perfectly well.

In short, I don't think the tag is necessary, unless you can give me some definitions that show what's missing. At most, all I can see is an argument for moving most of what's in gothic into a gothic clothing or similar tag.
