About the half lotus position

Posted under Tags

While searching for half_lotus_position, I stumbled upon a large number of post (especially post of Raiden Shogun) was incorrectly labeled as such, when they are not actually half_lotus_position.

The wiki clearly states half_lotus_position refers to hanka fuza (半跏趺坐), which requires one foot placed on the opposite thigh (with the sole facing upward), while the other foot is tucked underneath the opposite leg.

But there is a similar but seperate sitting called hanka iza (半跏倚坐), in which one leg hangs down, the other leg bent and foot resting on the opposite knee or thigh (kinda like figure_four_sitting). Currently, it seems hanka iza dont have its own tag, and post of it have been commonly mistagged as half_lotus_position (some are also mistagged as a full lotus_position like post #11107743).

As for Raiden Shogun's iconic sitting posture, it's not any standard posture at all. Although it looks close to hanka iza, her foot is under her thigh. Probably an adaptive creation of miHoYo.

So, should we create separate new tags for these defferent sitting postures? Or include their concept into an existing tag, like they are now in half_lotus_position? In that case, we should modify the half_lotus_position wiki definition.

mass update favgroup:56369 -> -half_lotus_position royal_ease

I initially wanted to create a new tag and struggled for some time about how to name it in English. But when I finally decided to call it royal ease position based on Wikipedia, I suddenly found that the tag royal ease already existed, although its definition is still somewhat incomplete. According to Wikipedia and google, it seems that whether the "vertical" leg is bent or hanging down, they can all be called "royal ease".

As for hanka iza, since there are so few standard sitting postures and it's visually difficult to distinguish from figure four sitting , I think we can ignore it for now or simply categorize it as figure four sitting.
