Tag for when a skirt is peeking out ever so slightly from under an upper garment such as a sweater, cardigan, blazer etc. Most commonly found on school uniforms but not a requirement. Example for if that didn't make sense:
If anyone knows a better name then feel free to suggest, especially if a more official term for it exists.
Not my tag idea, I just liked it enough to wanna get the ball rolling.
Hi yes idea-haver here. I've procrastinated trying to garden a favgroup for this for like 2 years, in part because I couldn't come up with a good name but also because I'm lazy. I think skirt peek is probably fine; it's a bit generic-sounding, but I don't think there's much it can be confused with so I think it'll be fine in practice.
As for the concept, yeah it's mainly a school uniform thing, but not really exclusive. You see it from time to time in gyaru-adjacent outfits, and I've always been interested in a way to search for it specifically. I always conceptualize it a bit as "zettai ryouiki but for the skirt".

I'm a little late to the party here, but I'd suggest something like hemline_peek instead. This phenomenon can also happen with short dresses, and we've been trying to cut down on "skirt" tags that are actually for both skirts and dresses. Alternatively, we could create dress_peek as well, but I don't see much of a reason to keep the two seperate besides semantics.
1. (sewing) The border of an article of clothing doubled back and stitched together to finish the edge and prevent it from fraying. 2. A rim or margin of something.
Do you have examples for this happening in combination with dresses? I tried to find some but couldnt really find concrete examples. Either the "peeking" part is too wide, or it's a frilled trim or something. I'm not entirely sure how I imagine this might looks so I'm not sure what to think of combining them.
Edit: something like post #9061688 but with a closed top, or post #10206031 with a slightly longer top. Personally, I think I'd rather just see a separate dress peek tag. Combining them makes me think of topic #32534 (yuck), and I quite dislike the idea of genericizing the name even further just to cover these cases.
I think this might already be a slight problem with the current name though. The original idea for the tag is specifically the gyaru-y style like post #7237013. It's specifically about the style, not just the feature where the skirt happens to be peeking out. This converstation already made me realize it should probably be clarified that the top the skirt is peeking out from should be closed at the bottom end (something like post #9061688, skirt or not, would not work aesthetically, while post #10980060 is fine), though it seems like everyone was already in agreement for that. I'm also thinking of whether it should be (or could be) restricted to pleated skirts (or dresses if those are to be included), because I don't think something like post #10206031 would really fit the idea I was going for.
