I personally don't see why it wouldn't count as game CG. Given the alias of game asset, it's clear it's for game assets, and a mod's assets are just a subset of that, in my opinion.

Are you extracting them from the game yourself? If so, make sure to add the self-datamine tag and specify in the source field that it's from the mod and not the base game.

How would I specify it's from the mod and not the base game in the source field? Link to the mod's download page?

I meant you should type in the mod name in the source field like you would for a regular self-datamined game asset upload. Help:image_source used to say that the source should include "extracted from game," but it was removed, presumably because it's technically redundant with self-datamine. But I think including the game name should still be a requirement because our copytags aren't always one-to-one with all the games that exist for a franchise.
You should only use the download page URL if what you're uploading is directly from that site, such as preview images.

Alright, somehow putting something other than an URL did not come to my mind since I'm way too used to it. Putting the name of the mod makes sense.
What about the creator though? Do I create an artist entry for the mod's author?

It should be whoever drew the assets for that mod.
