Isn't Gridman Universe supposed to be specifically for the Trigger shows?

I think people are getting tripped by the fact that Gridman Universe sounds like an umbrella tag for anything gridman in general. I would've made the same mistake.

Maybe this will help? I am still confused myself by the fact that we have this tag but it's not for all gridman stuff.

There should probably be an overarching Gridman (series) tag like with Ultra Series. From what I understand, the original show and Boys Invent Great Hero are directly connected sequels but the trigger shows are a separate continuity directly connected to each other which started as an animated reboot that included elements of both Denkou Choujin and Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad (the Americanized Power Rangers-esque localized version) then expanded on from there

The issue with that is that Denkou Choujin Gridman and boys invent great hero are a combined 82 posts, while Gridman Universe is over 8k posts, with the first entry having over 6k posts. Per discussion elsewhere (topic #35072), you're not going to get a series tag which is majority one side of the franchise.

The alternative is having those small tags just imply Gridman Universe through a shared subtag. Does this make sense @Damian0358 @HeeroWingZero ?

The ssss.gridman wiki also mentions that Denkou Choujin Gridman is known in the west as "Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad", but that's another series, Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad, which only appears to be loosely related, so I'm not sure if Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad should imply gridman (tsuburaya).

Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad is the Power Rangers to Denkou Choujin Gridman's Super Sentai, so if we make a decision of SSSS implying the original in some way, then Power Rangers would have to be handled similarly. But the issue is with the subtag name - Gridman Universe was created by Trigger, but it's still ultimately owned by Tsuburaya (which is also why the SSSS references couldn't be Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad canonically because Tsuburaya doesn't completely own it), which is to say someone could go "why is what is the franchise tag just used for the stuff based on the live action original".
