The "evening" tag

deprecate evening

The wiki for evening stated:

The time of the day after the sun has set, but before night has fallen.

While in general sense, the definition of evening is quite broad - covering the time after sunset (around 6.30 p.m. here) until midnight (12 p.m.).

For images depicting the period of time before visible sunrise or after sunset with visible distinct hues like these, dawn and dusk already exist:

Of course there are some cases when the sun is not yet visible and the sky still appear dark but not completely dark like these (generally more dark blue) regardless of the specific time viewers cannot easily discern unless given additional clues/context. Night may also apply:

Other info from web results. Feel free to give other ideas and corrections.

Twilight is the entire period of diffused light between day and night when the sun is below the horizon. Dawn is the morning twilight (transition from night to day), while dusk is the evening twilight (transition from day to night).

Twilight is the entire period of fading light after sunset until nightfall, while dusk is the final, darkest stage of evening twilight just before complete darkness.

create implication dusk -> evening
create implication sunset -> evening

I actually like the evening tag. Don't think it should be depreciated, cuz then we'd have to talk about the morning tag and Day tag.

Now about Evenings. The difference between Dusk and Sunset is the position of the sun in the image, but both happen during the evening.

create alias evening -> twilight

These are four different tags that are almost always overlapping, but not in all cases. dawn is sometimes used for people waking up and obvious mornings, and dusk for people going to sleep or having sex in the twilight.

twilight is used in the same way as evening, so that should be fine, but I don't know what to do with the other two tags.

Opinions on this? Nobody replied as usual.

I think evening could be used for posts when the sun is low but it's not necessarily sunset yet, while twilight could be for the time of day when it's neither day or night, and it's difficult to tell if it's sunrise or sunset (post #11020562 is a good example).
That's how I understand these terms anyway.

I think there is value on keeping dawn and dusk as separate tags. I like the current wikis mentioning how the hues should be used to distinguish them but realistically not every artist will use the hues mentioned in the wikis, so the context should also be considered like the examples mentioned on forum #422619.

I also think that twilight should be pushed to be tagged by default in situations were its not obvious if it's a morning or evening situation, since it has a broader definition anyways.

There is also golden hour which is (?) a combination of warm_colored (~twilight ~dusk ~dawn ~sunrise ~sunset)
