The year is 2026. Bungie has released Marathon for Windows 11, the Playstation 5, and the Xbox Series S/X. Searches for the original Marathon's art are polluted by Bungie's newest exercise in art plagiarism.

The year is 2026. The wind blasts away the snow, leaving the ground parched and bare. I request a tag implication of Marathon (2026) -> Marathon, much as Ace Combat Assault Horizon unfortunately implies Ace Combat.

As much as I dislike qualifiers, the main Marathon tag could use one. The first game could then be marathon_(1994).

Might be excessive for a franchise with eighteen posts, but it's a good practice to get into.

This isn't specifically about the BUR, but while we're on the topic of Marathon, I noticed that the wiki page for the 2026 game focuses more on the plagiarism controversy than it does on the game itself. Is that really necessary? Don't get me wrong, it's a shame that it happened, but it doesn't seem particularly relevant from a tagging standpoint. None of the posts under marathon_(2026) reference the controversy in any way. I feel like a brief description of the game is sufficient enough.

We don't have individual tags for any other game aside from 2026, so presumably it should just be marathon_(game_series). Either way, that'd free up the unqualified tag for marathon (sports).

That's fair. Thanks for fixing up the article: the new version definitely fits that purpose better.

2026 is already outnumbering "classic Marathon" which might be an issue with there being no tag for those games.

I feel like I've heard the phrase "a series of marathons" used before to refer to multiple sets of actual marathons. A "better safe than sorry" approach, and it's also better than just (game) which could make someone think the tag is explicitly just for the first game.

Highly doubtful, even a bit silly, that people would confuse this tag for a series of marathons.
