That would seem the logic, but if we do that we'd also need to tag images depicting the peanut pods and pea pods as fruit as well since legumes are also technically a fruit.

Seems a poor naming choice for that tag when the term is commonly used for other things. Some posts under the tag are using the more common usages of the term: post #7832883, post #8080210, post #9116970. The tag is also being used for non-culinary fruits such as pumpkins/squash, post #3681285, post #2892793, post #1536307. If these should be under the tag, using "fruit" in the name runs the risk of someone thinking everything under it should also be tagged fruit.

It's in the wiki though and often used that way? Fruit cup dessert can be qualified easily can't it? Vs literal fruit used as a cup.
