Copyright Style Copyright Tag Insinuation

Posted under Tags

If something has the _(style) tag of a certain copyright, should it also have the copyright tag itself? For example, if something has the panty & stocking with garterbelt (style) tag should it also have the Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt tag?

Along with that, if there is a style heavily associated with a certain copyright but not technically belonging to it should it also be tagged? For example, the nakayama tooru (style) is associated with Mega Man Zero (Series) but technically is separate from it (since it is just the artist's style).

How should either of these cases be handled?

personally i'd say they shouldn't have them.

think of it this way - if i were searching for a copyright tag, i'd expect to see posts featuring characters or some kind of direct reference to that copyright. i wouldn't necessarily expect or even want to see posts with no real relation to it other than a style emulation.

I think I'm in the opposite boat, if I search for Panty and Stocking or Pop'n Music I'd expect to see posts in the series style since that is one of the main appeals of the copyright to me. This is also helpful if the parodied series doesn't have a unique tag for them and they are just floating around in style parody.

Another thought while we're on the topic, but there is also inconsistency in how these are tagged when we do have more specific tags. Sometimes it's series name, but other times it's tagged by artist. In a redundant example panty & stocking with garterbelt (style) exists but so does imaishi hiroyuki (style).

I think a style is a direct reference to the copyright, as long as the reference is clear, it's ok to tag the copyright imo.

On a side note, for the particular case of panty & stocking with garterbelt (style), you can search panty_&_stocking_with_garterbelt* to search for both regardless of the copytag being tagged or not for the *_(style) posts

i was thinking more like a scene reference when i said "direct", but i get where you two are coming from. difference in specifics, i guess.

i think it's the difference between "this style is used in a particular copyright" vs "this style is associated with a particular artist, possibly across multiple copyrights"? to be honest, i'm seeing a whole palette of different styles in the Imaishi Hiroyuki (style) tag so i'm doubting its usefulness for searching, i'm sure the studio trigger (style) alias isn't helping.
