In most cases, yes, but there could be cases in which the fake translation was provided by the artist/official localizer (like an April Fools prank). I don't think we should be making implications when these edge cases might exist, even if they're extremely unlikely.
For only 79 posts where every single one of them is currently a third-party edit and general avoidance in uploading "first-party fake translations", I don't think an overwhelming minority of the tag's makeup worth of posts should be a reason against the implication. It seems like something else could be figured out there like a separate tag like joke translation or whatever. I guess the issue though with a separate tag is how prone it is to misuse and figuring out if the translation is first-party source, plus the name is already good enough and does in theory encompass both, the only difference being which party is posting it.

At least the way rhe wiki is written here says this tag is explicitly for third party edits, rather then a first party joke one (and even then I’d argue if its from the source it wouldn’t be a purley fake translation, even if a joke)

The source would be a pretty good tell there, especially with a simple Sauce Nao search if unsure.

That's specifically, not explicitly. Saying "explicitly" makes it sound like you're claiming the wiki is directly stating that it applies to third-party edits, which it's not. If it is referring to third-party edits and you have to read between the lines to see that, then it's being stated implicitly. Hard-translated, on the other hand, does explicitly state that it's for third-party translations.

It doesn't matter. There's nothing stopping the author from making a 100% fake translation if they really want to.

Fair point, it is implicit in the tag not explicit, My last point is I’d argue an official joke translation isn’t “fake” as it’s from the source rather then some random other person, if the creator makes joke text it’d be a variant and not “fake”.

Should it come up maybe “official joke translation” would be clear enough to avoid confusion.
