Deprecate Leg_Grab

Posted under Tags

I've been meaning to start a topic on it, but should "holding" body part tags be used in conjunction with "hand on" tags whenever possible? holding*leg* hand*on*leg* doesn't show all that much current overlap between those types of tags.

I would think if a character is holding another's leg, you could use hand on another's leg or hand on another's thigh to specify where it's being held from (or not use any "hand on" tag if it's not hands being used to hold it). "Holding" meaning the body part is specifically being held up, not in a normal resting position with hands just happen to be laying on it.

Or would "hand on" tags be mutually exclusive to "holding", and only reserved for situations where the body part is in a normal resting position, with a hand just touching it without holding it up or grabbing it in any way?

This is how the hand_on_* tags should be used, yes. There's no requirement for the body part to be in a normal or resting position, but the hand should be resting on or against it rather than grabbing it. It's like hand_on_hilt compared to holding_sword.

BUR #44219 is pending approval.

create alias holding_own_leg -> grabbing_own_leg
create alias holding_another's_leg -> grabbing_another's_leg

As above merging with grabbing as the main name. I would support gardening out leg/legs, but for now this will at least remove the redundant tags.

Relative to the other limb, topic #29678 aliased grabbing own arm -> holding own arm, while grabbing another's arm and holding another's arm currently coexist. Luckily arm grab is deprecated, but holding vs grabbing is confusing at times.
